ADHD
We offer* ADHD screening and a provisional diagnosis of ADHD only for ongoing clients when it becomes apparent throughout multiple therapy sessions that ADHD might be present.
We offer therapy to assist individuals in effectively managing ADHD-related challenges while cultivating sustainable habits and routines that support healthy and productive lifestyles. Therapy leverages individual strengths and introduces new strategies and skills tailored to each client's unique difficulties.
*Note. In Canada, clinical psychologists (like myself) can diagnose ADHD in adults via an extensive clinical interview and/or the identification of relevant symptoms during therapy. This ADHD diagnostic process is also common for medical professionals (e.g., physician, nurse practitoner) and does not involve any neuro-cognitive testing.
We do not offer psycho-diagnostic ADHD assessments. These evaluations are typically performed by clinical neuropsychologists and involve
Neuro-cognitive testing
Clinical interview
Identification of personal strengths and difficulties
A diagnosis, if relevant symptoms are present
A detailed report with test results and practical recommendations to address difficulties.
Note. In Canada, some psychologists (e.g., clinical psychologist, neuropsychologist) can diagnose ADHD but cannot prescribe any medication; only medical professionals can diagnose and prescribe medications for ADHD, which include
Primary care physician (eg, family doctor)
Nurse practitioner
Phychiatrist.
